Real Character/Real People Series: Profiles in Empathy

Empathy is identifying with and understanding how other people feel. Former President Jimmy Carter discusses the role of empathy in assisting needy people throughout the world. Wilene Justilien, 21, works in an inner city school as a member of Teach For America. Clayton Liliard, 16, forms a charity to repair and donate bicycles to children with incarcerated parents. Program encourages empathy by exposing students to real life exemplars who help, support, and comfort those in need.
