For middle schoolers, fitting in, being popular, having friends, and getting along with teachers is all important. Whether they are aware of it or not, the opinions and perceptions of peers, parents and teachers all contribute to a young teen’s reputation—or the way others see them. Through the use of acted out vignettes, young viewers will understand the power of having a good reputation versus the pain of having a bad one. A series of vignettes show middle school students how to build and enhance positive reputations and repair bad ones. The benefits of a positive reputation and the consequences of a negative one are described. Two older teens narrate the well-acted scenarios and address getting along with friends and teachers, being liked, and how a reputation may be damaged and repaired. Online reputations are also briefly discussed with emphasis on how comments made via social media can never be completely deleted. The extensive teacher's guide includes learning objectives, learning indicators, a pre- and post-test, a variety of activities, and fact sheets for students. A useful supplement to curricula that address bullying, self-identity, and self-esteem.
